Looking for a tighter sounding neck pickup with some more mids and less low-bass. I'm finding it a little bassy and hollow. If others in the line are this good, I'll be hunting for a Jazz bass shortly for a PJ conversion.Īside from a fret level, which I plan to do shortly, one area where there's room for improvement (for my tastes) is the neck pickup.
Super happy with this guitar, and for less than many pedals that have come and gone. Has a really nice dark, even-grained rosewood fingerboard as well. Never was a fan of 1 5/8", but I'm starting to think that was more a function of the tighter traditional radius. Also, the 1 5/8" nut with flatter 9.5" radius, in combination with the neck profile, just feels great. Did this change? Maybe my hands/preferences have changed. That's not so with this one, a 2016 model that feels just right. I'd picked one up in a store a year or two ago and pretty quickly put it down because the neck felt comically small to my hands. I like it quite a bit more than the other Teles I've owned in the past and played for years: Japanese Nocaster, American Deluxe and Japanese Custom etc. What a ridiculously nice guitar, and not just for the money.
